About monday.surf

A directory of Florida's publicly accessible surf spots, for the day the waves are better than your inbox. Made by folks who grew up in Osteen, out in west Volusia, where the nearest wave is a truck ride away. We surf anyway, and we got tired of guessing which beach to drive to. The jokes are ours; the facts are kept dry.

The rule

A spot is listed only if at least one public page we actually fetched names it and surfing there. Every fact on a spot page is quoted from a fetched page, with its link and the date we read it. If no source we read says something, the page says "not stated". We don't fill gaps from memory, and we don't copy surf-forecast companies' text.

Where the facts come from

70 source pages from 28 publishers: American Surf Magazine, Beachapedia (Surfrider Foundation), City of Daytona Beach, City of Jacksonville Beach, City of Jacksonville Parks, City of Pompano Beach Parks, Discover Martin (Martin County tourism), Explore.com, Indian River County, Islands.com, National Park Service, News4JAX (WJXT), Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation, Palm Coast Observer, PensacolaBeach.com, Sarasota County Parks, St. Johns County, St. Lucie County, VISIT FLORIDA, VeroBeach.com, Visit Flagler (Flagler County tourism), Visit Indian River County, Visit Panama City Beach, Visit Space Coast (Brevard County tourism office), Visit St. Lucie, Volusia County, Waterfront Properties blog, Wikipedia. Locations are OpenStreetMap objects (parks, piers, beaches), kept only when OpenStreetMap puts them in the same county as the sources.

What's worked out, not sourced

These are labelled on every page as worked out from which way the beach faces. Where a source says something about a spot's swell, wind or tide, the source wins.

What it isn't

Not a forecast, not a surf report, not safety advice. It's not run by or affiliated with any park, city, county, the State of Florida, NOAA, the NWS or any surf company. No ads, no tracking scripts, no sign-ups. Lifeguards and the posted flags on the day are the authority.

Corrections

Spot moved, parking changed, pier closed, or we got the name wrong? Email israel@y00r.com with the page and, ideally, a public link that shows the right answer. We fix it against the source.
